The Bobcat Boardwalk Loop Trail is a short .4 mile loop trail leaving from the Shark Valley parking area. This trail takes you across a 'bayhead', a plant community which grows just above a saw grass prarie but below the threshold necessary to support a hardwood hammock. The roots of bayhead plants are often immersed in water year round.

The Bobcat Boardwalk Trail offers views of the saw grass prairie to the east of Shark Valley

The boardwalk itself has interpretive signs which describe the 'bayhead' and its relationship with the other Everglades ecosystems

Blades of saw grass have small rows of teeth which deter animals from execessive forgaing. They also help in catching and retaining rain water

The boardwalk is wheelchair accessible and is a pleasant walk for families with small children
